About the Award
The Norris Hermsmeyer “Spark Plug” Award recognizes a Rotarian or non-Rotarian in Boulder whose life and work exemplify the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.
The award honors someone who has sparked a new project or initiative, promoted goodwill and understanding, or made an exceptional contribution of time, talent, or treasure to the community.
What Makes a Spark Plug?
A Spark Plug is someone whose energy, initiative, and commitment encourage others and move important work forward.
Launches a project or initiative that responds to a meaningful community need.
Builds understanding, cooperation, peace, and stronger relationships among others.
Demonstrates the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self through sustained action.
Motivates colleagues, neighbors, volunteers, or community members to get involved.
Uses personal skills, professional expertise, and energy to make a difference.
Creates a lasting positive impact through leadership, generosity, or service.
Eligibility
The award is open to Rotarians and non-Rotarians in Boulder whose service has made a meaningful contribution to the community.
A Strong Nomination
Service Above Self
The Spark Plug Award does more than recognize an extraordinary individual. It also allows the recipient to direct $2,000 to a nonprofit organization whose mission matters to them.
