About the Award
Promoting literacy in all its forms.
The Boulder Flatirons Rotary Literacy Award recognizes excellence in literacy programs offered by Boulder County nonprofits, public institutions, schools, libraries, and individuals.
The award embraces an expanded definition of literacy. Literacy includes the ability to understand information, communicate ideas and opinions, make informed decisions, and solve problems, regardless of the subject matter.

Literacy reaches far beyond reading and writing.
The definition may continue to evolve as the needs of our community and world change.
Financial Literacy
Helping people understand money, budgeting, credit, saving, and financial decision-making.
Health Literacy
Improving the ability to understand health information and make informed healthcare decisions.

Building the skills needed to evaluate information, sources, messages, and media critically.

Who may be nominated?
Nominations are encouraged for individuals and organizations whose work advances literacy in Boulder County.

A Strong Nomination
What should be included?
- A detailed description of the literacy program, initiative, or work.
- An explanation of what the nominee has done to promote literacy in Boulder County.
- Specific examples demonstrating the program’s impact.
- Documented results, accomplishments, or awards, if applicable.
- Your reason for nominating the individual or organization.
- Up to three supporting documents or additional pages.
